Shovit Basnet’s PR Permanent Resident filiming in Dhampus

Kathmandu: The second phase of filming for Shovit Basnet’s much-awaited film “PR Permanent Resident” has begun in Dhampus, Kaski district. Following its initial shoot covering 60% of the film in Australia last Falgun, the production resumed in Nepal this week with a wedding scene.

In the scene, lead actors Dikpal Karki and Binita Karki were seen dressed as bride and groom, hinting at key plot developments in this drama rooted in migration and identity. The film will continue shooting across Pokhara, Chitwan, and Kathmandu in the coming weeks.

Along with Dikpal and Binita, the ensemble cast includes Neer Shah, Gauri Malla, Rabindra Khadka, Uttam KC, RA Suraj Poudel, Rajan Kunwar, Pooja Chaudhary, Bimala Khatri, Ashma Adhikari, Kushal Thapa, and others.

Presented by RFM Facility Management & LaneWay Dumplings, the film is being made under the Salon Salina Films banner and co-produced by Pradeep Dahal (A One Services, Australia) and Laxman Sapkota (Indreni Group).

The film’s music is composed by Manas Raj and Bhim BC, with dance choreography by Ramji Lamichhane. The story is written by director Basnet, while Ganesh Budhathoki handled the screenplay and dialogues.

Cinematography was managed by Saurabh Manandhar in Australia and is currently being done by Saurabh Lama in Nepal. The film will be edited by Bande Prasad.

The movie portrays the struggles of Nepali youth in their pursuit of permanent residency (PR) in Australia, a theme that resonates with thousands of Nepalis navigating life abroad.

With its relatable storyline and international scope, PR Permanent Resident is shaping up to be a major release for 2025.
