‘Ke Ghar Ke Dera: Ghar No. 2’ Trailer Highlights Urban Struggles
Kathmandu: The official trailer for the much-awaited Nepali film Ke Ghar Ke Dera: Ghar No. 2 has been released amid a special event held in Lalitpur on Friday. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Dipendra K. Khanal, known for his works like Pashupati Prasad and Chapali Height 2, the film sheds light on the daily struggles of Kathmandu’s urban middle class, with a focus on the conflict between home ownership and tenancy.
The 3-minute 20-second trailer opens with veteran actor Harihar Sharma offering a heartfelt piece of advice to his son, portrayed by Aryan Sigdel, to preserve the family house. The narrative quickly unfolds into a mosaic of individual struggles: financial burdens, rising household expenses, high-interest loans, and lack of clear direction — all encapsulating the plight of the middle class in the capital city.
A poetic narration overlays the visuals, enriching the emotional depth and giving audiences a taste of the film’s reflective and socially aware tone. This element, coupled with the nuanced performances, sets the stage for a thought-provoking cinematic experience.
Ke Ghar Ke Dera: Ghar No. 2 boasts a star-studded ensemble including Khagendra Lamichhane, Aryan Sigdel, Nischal Basnet, Keki Adhikari, Upashna Singh Thakuri, Srijana Napit, Prakash Ghimire, Sanjog Rasili, child artist Rubeena Ghimire, Ramesh Budhathoki, Gita Adhikari, Harihar Sharma, Shankar Acharya, Gaurav Bista, and Sajjan Shrestha.
Produced by Apple Entertainment, A Plus Entertainment, and Nataraj Creation, the film is backed by producers Nakim Uddin, Sharad Shrestha, and Kiran Maharjan, with Yubaraj Karki serving as executive producer. Cinematography is handled by Krishna Bahadur Thapa.
Scheduled for release on Jestha 2 (May 16, 2025), the story, penned by renowned author Buddhi Sagar, marks his debut in screenwriting. His previous literary works, such as Karnali Blues and Phirphire, have been celebrated for their depth and realism.
