
Oscar College Teams Up for Kathmandu Corridor Film
Kathmandu: In a milestone for Nepali cinema, Kathmandu Corridor is set to be the first film developed in collaboration with Oscar International College and its graduates. The project was officially announced at a special event held on Tuesday.
Directed by Suraj Katuwal, who previously co-wrote the film The Woolen Sweater, Kathmandu Corridor is presented by Miraz Motion Pictures in association with Oscar International College and Junko Pictures. Katuwal is expected to bring a fresh narrative style backed by academic and artistic synergy.
Renowned cinematographer and producer Ujjal Bastakoti confirmed that filming will begin in the second week of Jestha. Bastakoti, known for his work in the Cannes award-winning short film Lori, Chiso Ashtray, and Yasmeen’s Element (Pakistan), will handle both cinematography and production duties for the project.
The cast includes a mix of seasoned and emerging talents such as Shantidoot Pandey, Anjasa Rijal, Guddu, Yogendra Rana, Indu Lamsal, Nusa Limbu, Deepak KC, Sudan Pokharel, Niru Khadka, Subarna Thapa, Suchitra Upreti, Shashwat Pandey, and others.
Krishna Bhandari will edit the film, while the screenplay is co-written by Sharmila Ale. Sudam Sike is on board as the casting director.
This collaboration not only supports fresh graduates but also blends academic insight with cinematic storytelling—aiming to uplift the overall standard of Nepali filmmaking.
