Sumnima: Upasana Singh Thakuri Cast in Milan Chams’ Film
Kathmandu: Popular actress Upasana Singh Thakuri has officially been cast in the lead role of “Sumnima,” the upcoming film directed by well-known filmmaker Milan Chams. The movie, described as a love story, will be produced in both Nepali and English, targeting an international audience.
According to director Chams, Sumnima will tell a universal story and is being developed with a global market in mind. To further that goal, auditions have been announced in the UK to cast the male lead opposite Upasana. Applicants must be between 20 and 26 years old and currently residing in the UK.
The film is set to begin shooting in Nepal and the UK from July under the joint banner of Chams Entertainment and Gurkha Films. The story and screenplay have been written by Rajeev Thapa, known for his strong narrative style.
Sumnima marks Chams’ 11th directorial venture, following the successful run of his recent biopic Anjila, which celebrated its 51st day in theaters. Buoyed by that success, Chams expressed excitement for his new project, stating that Sumnima promises to be a standout film thanks to a solid story and a talented team. Details about the rest of the cast and technical crew will be revealed in the coming days.
