The second edition of the skill Fair Kicks Off with Focus on Career Development Counseling
Kathmandu: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has officially kicked off Skill Fair 2082 at Tundikhel, aiming to provide free vocational training to 2,082 individuals across 42 professions in 10 sectors. The fair began with an orientation focused on employment and self-employment opportunities, attended by 1,641 selected participants and 1,377 additional registrants.
Training sessions, starting tomorrow at Kathmandu Model College in Bagbazar, will consist of 80% practical and 20% theoretical content, targeting sectors like IT, beauty, construction, electrical engineering, hospitality, garments, and agriculture. A new focus on special ability support skills has been introduced this year, offering training in housekeeping and care services for individuals with disabilities.
Priority for training is being given to residents of landfill-affected areas, people with disabilities, and former street vendors. While 2,925 individuals have been selected for 100-hour training, all applicants will be given opportunities, including a one-day session on interview and personal statement preparation if needed.
Prominent personalities like BBC MasterChef Santosh Shah, entrepreneur Karvika Thapa, and artist Sandeep Chhetri inspired attendees with messages emphasizing self-reliance and skill-based success. The fair, organized in collaboration with multiple sectors, is expected to significantly contribute to youth employment and entrepreneurship within the city.
