Commencement of the Motherhood Protection Campaign
Baglung: With the gracious hospitality of Gandaki Province Health Minister Honorable Krishna Prasad Pathak, the official inauguration of the Bhupendra Budha Memorial Campaign (C-CAP), a program to safeguard mothers, took place at the Gwalichaur Health Post in Badigad Rural Municipality-8.
At a ceremony presided over by Badigad Rural Municipality Chairperson Gandaki Thapa, Health Minister Pathak complimented the campaign to safeguard motherhood and stated his belief that women may be protected from cervical cancer through such initiatives. “Cancer and other complex diseases can be prevented in women by early detection, education, and treatment,” he stated. It is crucial that these efforts proceed successfully.
This campaign, launched in memory of the late Bhupendra Budha, aims to protect Nepali women from cervical cancer. The initiative will directly benefit approximately 10,000 women and adolescents from seven local levels: Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality, Rukum East; Badigad Rural Municipality, Baglung; Annapurna Rural Municipality, Myagdi; Pachaljharana Rural Municipality, Kalikot; Paterwa Sugauli Rural Municipality, Parsa; Sigas Rural Municipality, Baitadi; and Gaumul Rural Municipality, Bajura.
The initiative behind the campaign is Kalp Empower Women Nepal. Puja Koirala, the organization’s chairperson, claims that initiatives including the creation of youth groups, orientation to capacity building, the health village literacy campaign, and free cervical cancer health camps have been planned. The first day of the two-day camp directly helped 245 women, she reported.
Sugarika K.C., Miss Nepal 2005, hosted the event.
