Fourth Nepal Rural Film Festival to be held from Baishakh 4 to 6
The fourth edition of the ‘Nepal Rural Film Festival’ (NERUFF) is being organized in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality of Rasuwa district from Thursday. The festival, organized by Celebrity Nepal, will last for 3 days, from Baishakh 4 to 6. About 2 dozen short and long films are being screened at the festival.
The certificates were awarded at a pre-event program organized by the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu on Wednesday. The chief guest of the program was Dinesh DC, chairman of the Film Development Board. Souvenirs of the Rural Film Festival were also released during the pre-event program. The program was attended by many film professionals and journalists, including the president of the Directors’ Society, Janakdeep Parajuli; the journalist Shantipriya; and the vice president of the Film Journalists’ Association of Nepal, Kuber Giri.
At the event, President DC said that the festival, which is being organized by including films made in rural settings, has a special significance. He expressed the view that the activities, whether it is a festival or a film award, are positive. He announced during the program that the foundation stone for the film studio in Kavre, which the board is going to build for film production, will be laid in Baisakh.
Chairman Raghunath Sapkota said that the festival, which is being organized in rural areas of different districts every year, will also feature various dialogue programs covering Nepali film tourism and rural stories. Sapkota said that along with screening Nepali films, the festival will promote local tourism and promote local art and culture.
The festival is coordinated by director Kamal Ekkai Magar. The organizers believe that the festival will provide complete entertainment to the audience interested in watching films, as there is no movie theater in Rasuwa district, and will also play a role in promoting the film industry.
The organizers have set a target of attracting around 4,000 viewers to the festival. The Film Development Board has collaborated with the festival. The fourth Municipal Cup Volleyball Tournament, organized annually by Gosainkunda Rural Municipality, Rasuwa, will also be held from Baisakh 2nd to 6th.
