Kathmandu: The much-anticipated song ‘Lalumai’ from the upcoming Nepali film Mahabhoj, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Dinesh Raut, was officially released during a special event in Kathmandu on Sunday.

Sung by Nischal Basnet and Asmita Adhikari, the lively track showcases a celebratory wedding setting filled with joy, family warmth, and village festivity. The lyrics were penned by Hark Saud, with music composed by Koshish Chhetri and Ketan Chhetri. Pushkar Khatri handled the arrangement, while the choreography was done by Sunil Chhetri.

The music video features a star-studded cast including Nischal Basnet, Dayahang Rai, Khagendra Lamichhane, Malika Mahat, Anjana Baraili, Gaumaya Gurung, and Kamal Singh Airi, all dancing and portraying scenes that reflect cultural celebration and unity.

Director Dinesh Raut highlighted that Mahabhoj delves into Nepal’s class struggle, portraying societal and familial pressures tied to wealth and morality. Speaking at the event, Raut expressed his intent to present an honest reflection of Nepali life.

Actors Dayahang Rai and Khagendra Lamichhane shared how they stepped out of their comfort zones to dance for this vibrant number, even though they aren’t known as dancers. Nischal Basnet, who both sang and appeared in the video, expressed excitement over reuniting with director Raut after their previous collaboration on Parva (2017), which featured the hit song Kale Dai.

Mahabhoj is produced by Himal Kadaria under the joint banners of Clock Work Creations and Picture Frame, with Kiran Nepali as executive producer. The story and screenplay are written by Bikas Subedi.

The film stars an impressive ensemble cast including Aryan Sigdel, Dayahang Rai, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Gaumaya Gurung, Malika Mahat, Mohan Niraula, Basundhara Bhusal, Buddhi Tamang, Kamal Mani Nepal, Puskar Gurung, and many others.

Set for a grand release on Jestha 15, Mahabhoj will premiere simultaneously in Nepal and select international markets.
