Ramesh Upreti Returns with ‘Maharajdhiraj’ After 7 Years
Kathmandu: After a long hiatus of nearly seven years, popular actor Ramesh Upreti is making his silver screen comeback with the upcoming Nepali film ‘Maharajdhiraj.’ The film is directed by Parichada Sen, and Upreti was officially signed for a major role through a written agreement on Wednesday.
Ramesh Upreti last appeared in his self-produced movie ‘Aishwarya,’ which was released in 2074 BS. Although he had signed for two films last year—‘Kotparva’ and ‘Rajmahal’—they did not move forward into production.
Now, fans are excited as Upreti joins the cast of ‘Maharajdhiraj,’ which is scheduled to hit theaters on Ashoj 13, coinciding with the Phulpati festival. The film also features Paul Shah, whose double-character poster released last year drew major attention—one of a regal persona with crown and scepter and the other, a minimalist nude pose on a throne.
The film also stars Jai Kishan Basnet and is written by director Sen himself, who previously received critical acclaim for ‘Premgunj.’ The movie is presented by Biraj Bista and produced by Topendra Bista, Chakra Bahadur KC, and Ravi Khadka. Principal photography is set to begin in Jestha.
