Shilpa Maskey Joins ‘Jalaaki’ Cast with Dhiraj & Upasana
Kathmandu: Director Ashok Thapa Magar’s upcoming film Jalaaki is gaining momentum as more stars join its cast. After completing the first phase of shooting with Upasana Singh Thakuri and Sonam Topden, the film has now welcomed actress Shilpa Maskey to the lead lineup.
Shilpa, last seen in the film Devi, has signed a formal agreement with the producers this week. Although she had accepted a few film offers in between, she had not returned to filming since shooting Parastree in 2080. Despite several performances, commercial success has eluded her since her debut.
Dhiraj Magar was already confirmed as the lead last month. Jalaaki will also introduce Aakriti Rajbhandari, best known from singer Sushant KC’s hit music video Bardali, in her debut film role. Additional cast members include Maotse Gurung, Buddhi Tamang, Astitwa Bhattachan, Sangita Thapa Magar, and Khadak Bahadur Pun (Khabpu).
The second phase of filming is set to commence shortly, with shooting locations including both Nepal and South Korea. Shailendra D. Karki will handle cinematography, while the production team includes Om Gharti Magar, Bir Bahadur Lama, Chandra Bahadur Bhattachan, Betane Magar (Babita Rana), Man Bahadur Dhanaha Magar, and Sushmita Budhathoki.
Jalaaki, written by director Magar himself, draws inspiration from the cultural significance of the word “Jalaaki,” a stone pillar that symbolizes the faith of the Magar community.
